A common problem as mentioned earlier is the Throttle Position Sensor, not actually the Sensor but the 3 Pin Plug that connects it to the Wiring Harness. The Sensor is on the right hand side of the Throttle Body (Carb) and is a black circular disc shape. The Plug is mounted on the Carb, there is a triangular Plug/socket. Remove them from the Clamp and unplug the plug and socket several times to clean the connection.
If you unplug the Sensor when the engine is running you will notice the engine idling erratically, this tells you if the sensor is working properly, this is because the Sensor sends back theposition of the the computer that manages the Engine. I had this replaced by a Ford Dealer but the problem was back in a few week, I cleaned it up a few times after but eventually I just soldered the wires together and insulated them and havent had a problem since. If that doesnt solve the problem try unplugging a few other plugs on the Carb a few times to see if that solves it. If not you you have more serious problem, try this first because it will only take a few minutes, Good luck
