Why does uneven heating cause the wind to blow?

The extreme of this is in the Antarctic, where air movements from the equator cool and move towards the pole, where they sink, as they become cold and dense. The pole is over 3000m (10 000ft) above sea level, and the polar plateau slopes from the pole to the coast - a distance of about 1500 mi, without any significant break. At some sites close to the coast the average wind speed over the course of the year is 80km/h 50mph!!! Great for wind turbines!

What is the abnormal boiling point of water?

Boiling occurs when the vapor pressure is equal to atmospheric pressure. Pure water boils at 1000C at a pressure of 1 bar (1 atmosphere). At lower pressures for example up a mountain at 10000ft 3000m water boils at just under 900C. As you go higher it gets lower still. When salts are dissolved in water the boiling point rises, this phenomenon is termed elevation of the boiling point.

From http://www.wrcc.dri.edu/narratives/NEWMEXICO.htm Much of the winter precipitation falls as snow in the mountain areas, but it may occur as either rain or snow in the valleys. It may exceed 300 inches in the highest mountains of the north.

How many weeks would it take to drill through the outer core?

Top question!! Negating the fact that it would be too hot and would melt our drill bits before we hit it, it takes approximately 2-3 weeks to drill 1000m!!So to drill to 50000m ... You would need to compound the time every 1000m by about 1 week per extra 1000m (1000m = 2-3 weeks / 2000m = 4-6 weeks + 1 week and 3000m = 6-9 weeks + 2 weeks) You would probably give your self 200 weeks so about 4 years :) hope this helps.
