Let the sides of the square be AB, BC, CD and DA and the corners be a, b, c and d.

1) Draw a line from the midpoint of AB to the midpoint of CD, and another line from the midpoint of BC to the midpoint of DA.

2) Draw a line from b to d and another from a to c.

3) Divide AB into 4 equal portions. Draw lines parallel to BC.

4) Draw lines from a, d and the midpoint of DA to the midpoint of BC.

5) Draw lines from the midpoint of each side to the midpoint of the two adjacent sides, and a final line from the midpoint of DA to the midpoint of BC. In this case two corner triangles from the top half have to be combined to equal the central triangle - and this is repeated with the lower half of the square.

Can you divide a square in 2 equal parts in 9 different ways?

Yes you can, but you have to use zig zag lines. Using straight lines there are only four ways to divide a square into two equal parts (along the lines of symmetry).

How many ways can you divide a square into 4 equal parts?

To divide a square into 4 equal parts, you can draw two perpendicular lines that intersect at the square's center. This creates four smaller squares of equal size within the original square. Therefore, there is only one way to divide a square into 4 equal parts.
