Once you divide a number up into prime factors, all of the number's factors are simply all combinations of these prime factors. For example: the prime factors of 20 are 22 x 51. The exponent 1 is normally not written; I include it here for clarity. To get all possible factors, you can use the Prime number 2 zero times, one time, or two times (three options), and the prime number 5 zero times, or one time, resulting in a total of 3 x 2 = 6 different factors:

20 x 50 = 1

21 x 50 = 2

22 x 50 = 4

20 x 51 = 5

21 x 51 = 10

22 x 51 = 20

Note that in general, a number to the power zero is one; in this case, it simply means that this prime number is not used as a factor.
