Coefficients are numbers. Find the GCF of the numbers and divide them by it.

Example: 30x + 42y

Find the GCF of 30 and 42.

Factor them.

2 x 3 x 5 = 30

2 x 3 x 7 = 42

Select the common factors.

2 x 3 = 6, the GCF

30/6 = 5

42/6 = 7

30x + 42y = 6(5x + 7y)
