They are located in the engine block. :-) For real All Ford V-8's are the same. As you face the engine with crankshaft pulley in front of you, Cylinder numbers are 1-4 on the left side counting from front to rear and numbers 5-8 are on the right counting from front to rear. Good Luck and Remember.

I have a 1997 ford f250 4x4, 5.4 gas engine. We just changed our crankshaft sensor. ours is located bottom front passenger side of engine behind the A/C pulley on the side wall.
