The greatest common factor (GCF) is often also called the greatest common divisor (GCD) or highest common factor (HCF). Keep in mind that these different terms all refer to the same thing: the largest integer which evenly divides two or more numbers. The greatest common factor of 378 and 540 is 54The GCF is 54.
It is hard to draw an actual tree on here. So ill do my best to explain it. To make a factor tree you need to get the numbers on the end of the branches to be all prime numbers. Prime numbers are numbers that can not be divided by a whole number any more to get a whole number. 426/2 = 213 [2 is a prime number] 213/3 = 71 [71 is a prime number... 71 is one of the more difficult numbers to find out if it is prime or not but believe it is prime] Now take all ofthe numbers that you used... 426, 213, 71, 3, and 2 and use them in your factor tree. Put 426 at the top of the tree. Make two branches with 213 and 2 coming off of these branches. From the 213 make two more branches making 3 and 71 coming off from these branches. If you do it correctly you will see the 2, 3, and 71 are at the end of the branches. All these numbers are prime numbers. Now you have you completed factor tree!
360 and 540 have an LCM of 1080.
To find the prime factorization of 48 using a factor tree, we start by breaking down 48 into its factors, such as 2 and 24. Then, we continue breaking down 24 into 2 and 12, and 12 into 2 and 6. Finally, we break down 6 into 2 and 3. This gives us the prime factorization of 48 as 2^4 * 3.

Yes. Factors that complete a factor tree need to be prime. However, it doesn't matter what two factors you select to start a factor tree.
no it does not matter what two factors you select to complete a factor tree (i just learned that today in class :D)
You need at least two factor trees to find a GCF.

use a factor tree
No.

In doing the factor tree, you can start with any two factors of the given number. These factors maybe prime or composite. But the resulting factors in the factor tree should always be prime numbers. It means that you have to continue factoring unless you ended up with all prime factors.
There is no difference between "factor of safety" and "safety factor." They are two ways of saying the same thing.
yeaahh
