Easy. Just divide pounds by 2.2 to get kilograms. So, 2 divided by 2.2 = 0.9 kg (If you need to be more precise in your calculation use 2.20462262 pounds instead of 2.2 pounds.

Easy. There are about 2.2 pounds in one kilogram. So, just multiply kg by 2.2 to get pounds. So, 2 x 2.2 = 4.4 pounds.(If you need to be more precise in your calculation use 2.20462262 pounds instead of 2.2 pounds.

(pounds x 0.453 = kg). So, 2.4 x 0.453 = 1.0872 kg

To be pedantic, the factor is 0.45359237, which rounds to 0.454. Using that multiplier gives 2.4 lbs = 1.089 kg. In either case, it is 1.09 kg to 2 dp.

Answer 1: One (1) pound (lb) equals just under one-half a kilogram (kg) (.45 kilograms, to be precise). Said another way, two (2) lbs equals just under one (1) kg (.9 kg, to be precise). Said yet another way, one (1) kg equals just over two (2) lbs (2.2 lbs, to be precise).

None of those actually shows you precisely how to do the conversion, but at least you can get, from that information, a sort of "picture" of it all, in your head.

To convert pounds to kilograms, you simply multiply the number of pounds by what part of one (1) pound is equal to one (1) kilogram...

...which, from the above, we know is .45 (actually, it's .4536). All conversions have to have a factor, and there's no way to calculate that. You must find the factor from reference materials, and then use it to make your calculation. And we know that the factor for lbs to kg calculations is .4536

So, then, if you want to know how many kilograms is equal to six (6) pounds, then simply multiply...

6 lbs x .4536 = 2.7216 kg (or 2.72 kg, rounded)

...so, in other words, six (6) pounds equals just under 3 kilograms.

I keep saying the "just under" thing because one (1) pound is equal to approximately (actually just under) one-half of a kilogram, so in your head you could, whenever you hear the number of pounds, just halve said number, and then round down a little and you'd at least be in the ballpark.

There's a danger in doing it that way, though, because that little .05 difference between actual half (which would be .5) and the kilogram's percentage of a pound (.45) can really add-up. For example, if you know that the number of pounds is 34, then because each of those 34 pounds is equal to a little less than half a kilogram, you would think that you could guesstimate that 34 lbs is approximately equal to a little less than 17 kg. But 34 times that .05 difference really adds-up so that if you calculate it precisely by multiplying...

34 lbs x .4536 = 15.4224 (or 15.42, rounded)

...you can see that you miss "just under 17" by around 2. So it's always best to calculate precisely; and the factor by which to multiply the pounds in order to get kilograms is .4536 (or you could round it to just .45).
