Accuracy of measurement refers to the degree of precision required of a measurement.... I work about 8 miles away from where I live. For my boss, that 11 kilometres is accurate enough as a measurement.

However, when I cycle that distance I find that the actual distance is 11.4 kilometres. That's accurate enough for me. Now, suppose I tied a string to my front door and rolled it out as I cycled, I might find that the distance is 11.452 kilometres.... that would be extremely accurate

A precise measurement is one which gives you the greatest information, for example, if you are measuring the length of a piece of wood, and it is exactly 23.0147 inches long, that is a precise measurement, as compared to measuring it as being approximately 23 inches long. Accuracy simply means being correct; if something weighs a pound, and you measure it as weighing a pound, that is accurate; if it weighs a pound but you measure it as weighing half a pound, that is inaccurate.
