The smallest snowflakes are barely more than tiny crystals. The largest flakes are (surprisingly!) as big as dinner plates. By the way, the notion that no two snowflakes are alike has been called into question.

It is recorded in the Guiness Book of Records that the worlds largest snowflake was 38cm wide and 20cm thick.It fell on Jan 28th 1887 across Fort Keogh in Montana. http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/education/primary/students/snowflakes.html
