It is where something will appear when you start typing or if you paste something. It is in effect the place where something will be inserted.

If you have inserted the system date into a document (as opposed to merely typing it in), selecting that option means every time the document is viewed or printed, the current date at that period will be displayed. If not selected, the date as of the time it was inserted will be displayed.
If the text begins with an Alphabetic character simply place the cursor in the cell and start typing. If the text begins with a numeric character place the cursor in the cell, type an apostraphe, then begin entering the number and text. i dont get it
