BUT, that is just one way to make a fraction greater than one. Another type of a fraction greater than one is called a mixed number. So, instead of 5/4, you would say 1 1/4. This means one and one fourth, just like

5/4. They are just two different ways to say the same thing.

BTW: one quarter and one fourth are the same thing.
