It's 7 feet. There are 3 feet in a yard... so 3+3+1=7
You would need to use a yard stick (36") to measure one and half feet (18") on any kind of a ruler. Usually what we call rulers are 12" (a foot) long.
5 feet is 5 feet - it is also 60 inches on a ruler. Or it could also be 1meter 52.4centimeters on the ruler if you happened to be using a metric ruler. When you saw that, you'd naturally be curious to know whether that's longer or shorter than 5 feet. So you'd go next door and borrow your neighbor's feet-and- inches ruler, and you might feel mystified when you discovered that as if by magic or quantum entanglement, they're both exactly the same length !
