Well,

1 cubic yard of water at 68 degrees Fahrenheit weighs 1,681.297 pounds.

There are 27 cubic feet in 1 cubic yard, and there are 7.48 gallons in each cubic foot, and 1 gallon of water at 68 degrees weighs 8.3249.

The Math: 27 x 7.48 x 8.3249 = 1,681.297 pounds.

The density of water changes ever so slightly depending on it's temperature.

Answer: A cubic foot of top soil weighs in the neighborhood of 75 - 100 pounds. There are 27 cubic feet in a cubic yard. Hence, one cubic yard of top soil weighs between 2025 and 2700 pounds.

Moisture content would make this figure variable

That all depends on what is in the cubic yard.

A cubic yard of air weighs very little.

A cubic yard of water weighs a lot.

A cubic yard of concrete weighs even more.

An empty cubic yard weighs nothing at all.

One Cubic Yard is 27 Cubic Feet. 3' x 3' x 3' = 27 cu. ft. One Gallon of Water is .133681 cubic feet. 27 divided by .133681 = 201.96 or just about 202 gallons.

One cubic foot will hold 7.48 gallons of water. 7.48 x 27 cubic feet = 202 gallons per cubic yard. (Same arithmetic going the other direction).

None, since there can be no conversion.

A cubic yard is a measure of volume. A weight measures a different characteristic of an object and so, according to basic principles of dimensional analysis, conversion from one to the other is not valid.

It depends entirely on what is within that cubic yard. -eg, a cubic yard of wet concrete will weigh about 4,000 pounds whereas a cubic yard of dry loam will weigh about 2,000 pounds

1 gallon (UK) weighs 10lb. 1 cu foot contains 6.25 gallons (6 1/4) 1 cu yard contains 27 cu ft. Therefore 1 cu yd weighs 27 X 6.25 X 10 lb = 1687.5 lb or 767.045 kg

How much top soil does it take to fill a cubic yard?

Well.....A cubic yard is a measure of volume, so the answer is....it takes a cubic yard (IE it would fill a box that was one yard wide by one yard long by one yard high. If you follow this link (http://www.rexius.com/faq.html) you will see a cubic yard of soil typically weighs around 1300 to 1600 lbs. To give you an alternate form of measurement, you are looking for 27 cu ft to fill a cubic yard of topsoil.

Weight of 40 yard dump truck Weight loaded with 40 yards of soil Weight loaded with 40 yards of concrete?

Don't know the weight of the truck alone -- google it. Concrete (wet) could be assumed to be 145 pounds per cubic foot, and there are 27 cubic feet in one cubic yard. Compacted damp to dry soil (at "optimum moisture" for compacting) might run around 110 to 120 pounds per cubic foot, and loose soil would be considerably less (assuming it's dry and not saturated).

How many bags of top soil weighing forty pounds each would it take to make one cubic yard of top soil?

A good average density for topsoil is 100 pounds per cubic foot. There are 27 cubic feet in one cubic yard, and so one cubic yard weighs around 2,700 pounds.2,700/40 = 67.5Therefore, it will take about 67.5 forty pound bags to make one cubic yard of topsoil.

Is a yard the same as a cubic yard?

When referring to garden or building materials such as top soil, ready-mix concrete, etc., the term yard is usually used as an abbreviation of cubic yard. In actuality, yard is a length or distance equal to three feet or 36 inches, and a cubic yard is a volume equivalent to a cube one yard long, one yard wide, and one yard deep.

How many cubic yard of concrete in pounds of cement?

It depends on the density of the material. Cubic yards is a measure of volume. Pounds is a measure of weight. For example, one cubic yard of feathers will weigh fewer pounds than one cubic yard of lead.
