A dwarf planet located in the asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter. It was discovered in 1801 and is the largest object in the asteroid belt. It has a diameter of approximately 950 km and is composed of water ice and rock. NASA’s Dawn spacecraft visited Ceres in 2015 and found evidence of a subsurface ocean.
