How to replace a door window on a 1995 Dodge Dakota pickup truck?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

you take out the busted one and put a new one in Assuming its similar to a Durango here is how it is done: Answer That answer leaves a little to be desired. Actually, the cables for the power window run around inside the door on plastic guides and they sometimes break. I had to take mine to the dealer as they cannot be repaired and the power window system is one unit. Good luck! I've had three of these go bad on my 2001 Durango. Its never the motor and always the plastic guides or regulator as said above. I have found one dealer that did sell just the regulator without the motor but for most its all or nothing $300. If Dodge does it your looking at $600. They sell the entire regulator/motor assembly at discount auto $97.00 or pep boys $120.00 and the parts fit exactly. If you've never done this its probably best to go buy the part first so you can see what it looks like because you cant see it even with the door panel off. This will also give you an idea where the screws are for the old regulator/motor. Remove the door panel along with the white plastic sound proofing membrane if installed. Then you need to lower window down 3/4 of the way so you can remove the screws that hold the window to the mechanism. Then pull the window up by hand and secure up with block of wood in door or use a rubber door stop between window and door frame to keep in place. DO NOT LET WINDOW FALL. Then remove four screws that hold regulor guide in place, you will also need to remove 3 screws from motor. If the motor is riveted in place you will need to drill these out first ( replace with screws on reassembly that come with new mechanism). Disconnect electrical plug from motor and reach inside door panel and rotate entire assembly towards the back of the vehicle to get it out the tiny hole. It will fit through as assembled. Installation of new unit is basically the opposite except after you have the regulator and motor installed with screws, reconnect the electrical plug so you can lower the window clamp into position (about 3/4 down). Then remove wood or stopper from window and lower by hand into positon of the regulator clamp. Secure with two screws and your done. Takes less than an hour. == == Try this link. Air conditioner recharge?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

If older then 95, it runs r12 refrigerant, and you need to have a pro use a recapture machine for the newer formula conversion. If 95 or newer, simply remove the low pressure line cap, plug on your 134 refrigerant w oil can, and fill with vehicle running and AC on. Do not over fill, most these DIY kits have a gauge, so keep it in the green.

How do you remove the radio in a 1999 dodge Dakota?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Remove the plastic cover surrounding the stereo and air conditioning knobs/vents. Use a flat screwdriver with the tip covered with tape (not to scratch anything). Slip the screwdriver under the plastic cover and pry off, not too hard. If you wiggle around you will find the clips holding it in. Pry near the clips so you don't crack anything. Once the cover is off you should be able to see the bolts holding the radio in. Take the bolts out and pull the stereo out. Unplug the wires and the antenna. Now you have an empty space to add a new after market stereo, I recommend an Alpine.

Where is the auto shut down relay on a 1988 dodge Dakota?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

I tried trouble shooting my 1993 dodge dynasty when the fuel pump went intermittent. We looked for the accident fuel shut off relay everywhere thinking it was an active thing rather than a passive relay near the air filter.

As I remember it, the computer (in mine) shuts of the relay or rather doesn't turn it on and let it run--no power to the relay. I had a schematic of the Internet that showed two relays were involved--

That's all I can remember now--it's been months and "experts" gave me all sort of stupid and wrong information--trying to trouble shoot the pump in the tank--sensor wires and what not they were easy to see under the car.

They had cross-over pumps on some Internet site for about $50

Where can you find a wiring diagram for an older Dodge pickup that includes the tail lights brake lights and blinkers?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

I think I can answer my own question. Went to walmart and found a brake light for a tow hitch, with a logic circuit on it for $10. I also purchased a converter from a 7 way trailer hitch plug to a 4 way, which is needed for the trailer hitch light. It also was $10. so I will tap into the logic circuit to the third brake light. for $20 it solved my problem. Thought I would pass this along.

Where is the starter solenoid on a 1999 Dodge Dakota?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Right side of vehicle under the oil filter for 4.0 engines.

It is located on the starter. The solenoid is another smaller cylindrical shaped device that is mounted to the starter.

If you have to replace it you have to buy the whole starter assembly that comes with a solenoid.

I have not found a way to replace only the solenoid.

What freon goes in a 1990 Dodge Dakota?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

1993 jeep Cherokee uses R12. But, if your vehichle has been upgraded it would be R134a. Look at your compressor, located on the mid lieft front side of the engine compartment. If it's OEM it should tell you what type of refrigerant is used. Also, you can look at the engine compartment sticker, located drivers side, against the fire wall.

it may be your alternator going bad that is what happened to mine, and i just changed the alternator, and it fires right up, to check your alternator start your car if it will start, and while its running take off your positive battery cable, if it dies your alternator is bad if it stays runnign your alternator is good, then it could just be your compression, or something in your gas.

Why is your abs brake light and park brake on in your 2002 Dodge Dakota?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

The ABS (antilock brake system) light is on because there is a problem with the ABS system. Until that problem is fixed, the light will remain on and the ABS system will not be functioning. You will still have regular brakes but without the ABS function. Take it to a qualified mechanic for repair.

Where is the voltage regulator in a 2000 dodge Dakota?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

The voltage regulator is NOT built in the alternator, it is part of the ECM, that is the Engine Control Module. The module (computer) monitors the charging system and signals the alternator how much voltage to send it to keep the system working properly. the voltage regulator is built in to the alternator

What will cause no cylinder compression?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

A cracked or broken piston will cause a loss of compression, as will cracked or broken rings. The failure of a head gasket will also cause a loss of compression, as will broken, cracked or badly worn valves or valve seats. A crack in the cylinder itself (either the sleeve or the engine block), or a crack in the head itself will cause a loss of compression. A problem with the plug threads or the threads in the head (for engines that have plugs) can cause loss of compression, and injectors (for engines that have them) can leak around the threads, either because the injector threads or the threads in the head have been damaged.

What could cause the starter not to work in a 1987 Dodge Dakota 4 cylinder?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Make sure battery is charged. Clean all wire connection at battery & at the starter. Make sure trans is in neutral or park completely or clutch pedal is completely depressed (check if neutral switch is ok) If no response from these check out solenoid, starter 7 innition switch & all wires/connectors in starting circuit. Here is another thing to look for-make sure the ground strap is connected to block & frame/body. Check the fuse & relay. They are located in the fuses box on the fender well in the engine compartment

Where can you find the radio wiring diagram for a 1994 Dodge Dakota pickup?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

you don't neccesarily need a wiring diagram if the stock plug is still there. when you buy a wiring kit for that specific vehicle the wires will be color coded to match up to the new radio (red to red, yellow to yellow etc). you just connect the wiring harness for your truck to the wiring harness for your deck and plug 'em in. if it's not there...you need a 12v constant, 12v switched, ground, and +/- spekaer wires for each set of speakers.

Why do low beams work but not high beams 1991 ford escort?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

This is normally caused by the dimmer switch going bad. In fact, I know of no other possibility, other than the low beam of the driver's side lowbeam input wire being pinched or cut in two. The latter is a very slight possibility, but is still possible. It is very much more likely to be the dimmer switch being bad.

One lady brought me her Merc Sable, with that problem...both her dim lights were blown, and would only work on hi beam....sigh...some people....
