How do lice mate?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Adult lice mate through a process where the male louse transfers sperm to the female louse. This usually occurs on the host's scalp where the lice lay their eggs. The female louse then lays the fertilized eggs, known as nits, close to the scalp to continue the life cycle.

Yes, paper lice can infest old books because they feed on the microscopic mold and mildew that can grow on paper. No, lice do not come from fleas. Lice are transmitted through contact with another animal/human that has lice or with an item that has been contaminated through contact with an infected animal/human. Can humans get head lice from ferrets?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Head lice cannot live on animal blood, only human blood, and will die within 24 hours of leaving the human head, so it is unlikely. However, if even one does end up on your animal by happenstance, and you interact with your pet within a 24 hour period, it is possible to get the head lice back into your hair where it can lay eggs. For the sake of caution then, it may be wise not to allow your pets on your beddings or furniture such as your sofa until at least24 hours after your last hair treatment, and to change clothes after interacting with your pet.

How do you kill ants with home products?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

The application of crushed bay, cloves or mint; diluted apple vinegar, dish detergent, garlic, lemon, peppermint oil, plain vinegar, salt, sesame seed oil, tabasco sauce, or white vinegar; powdered baking soda, black pepper, cayenne pepper, chalk, chili pepper, cinnamon; or spent coffee grounds is a home remedy for killing ants. The treatment offers non-toxic control, which is something that borax laundry detergent cannot guarantee in children- and pet-inhabited households. Ants resist the above-mentioned scents, which remain on their bodies long enough to offend their colony mates and co-foragers.

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Well that is hard to say. I am pretty sure that they can only survive on peoples heads because they need blood to survive. That is why your head itches when you have them because they suck your blood like ticks. So I would say not very long if a little.

Do you have to treat your swimming pool with anything if someone with lice was in it swimming?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

The chemicals in the pool won't effect the lice. It will take a lot more than that. I recommend buying a shampoo specifically for getting lice out. If that doesn't work, you should talk to your doctor or something. The lice cling onto your hair shaft and don't let go even if your underwater. Actually, you shouldn't go swimming until the lice is away. You may give it to somebody else. I got a lot of this information from answers.yahoo.com.
