"-3 x = 0" is not a valid equation. You probably have it mixed up and you forgot to put the coefficient and the variable together:

"-3x = 0"

That basically means "-3 times something equals 0".

So if the variable "x" is equal to 0 then the answer would be zero.

If you are putting this into a calculator (such as an online one or one self-made in VC++/VB, javascript, or anything else) that excepts letters, it will see them as 0 because they don't stand for anything except an invalid symbol.

Such as:

5 + x = 5

5 - f = 5
