Assuming it's a gas, not a diesel....these are the really easy things to do:

First check the ignition system, making sure the plugs and wires are good, cap, too.

Second, listen for any vacuum leaks.

Third, change the fuel filter.

If it's a diesel, you may have some serious fuel pump issues.
