an inlide 6 is when all 6 cylinders are in a row in a straight line, a v6 there is 3 cylinders on one side and 3 on the other in the shape of a "V"
Cylinders #1, 3 and 5 are on the drivers side, front to rear. Cylinders #2, 4 and 6 are on the passengers side, front to rear.
