E = 180000 Megapaschals
A = 20 x 40 = 800 mm^2 = 0.0008 m^2
strain = e = .05/.0008/180000 = 0.000347
The new area is (1+ue)^2 A = (1-.25(.000347))^2 times .0008 = .00079986 m^2 = 799.86 mm^2
new length is (1+e) times original length =1.000347L

No. The shape with the greatest volume to surface area ratio is the sphere. Therefore i surmise that the cylinder that looks closer to a sphere in proportions will have the greater volume. A cylinder with a square "cross section" (axially) would then have the greatest volume for a given area.

If you are in a real world situation there are a lot of factors to consider. In theoretical situation, ignoring friction and air drag etc, if a roller with mass m rolls down a slope to a horizontal surface it will continue rolling on the horizontal surface indefinitely.
