The wire acted as the load across the battery terminals. Small short pieces of wire have a very low resistance. Ohms law states I = E/R. Current is directly proportional to the voltage and inversely proportional to the resistance of the circuit. So in other words if the resistance goes low the current (amperage goes high) It is this high current flowing through the wire that makes the wire hot. The higher the resistance the less of a current flow through the wire.

What do you think happened to the chemical bonds between the molecules and atoms as each substance such as salt sugar and copper wire was added to water?

If we are talking about electrolysis then,"NaCl solution is used as electrolytic solution.a battery is needed to connect copper wires and metal pieces are used as electrode, one wire is connected to one side of battery and is attached to one electrode while other at opposite side with another electrode.the electrode connected to the positive terminal of battery is called anode and electrode connected to the negative terminal is called cathode.when the electric current is passed in the electrolytic solution of NaCl,the NaCl breaks into Na positive ion and Cl negative ion.Na positive ions will deposit on cathode and Cl negative ions will deposit on anode.when Na is scarped,it is used in medicines for heart patient while Cl is used as chlorine water(antiseptics) such as detol".Thus, chemical bond of NaCl is broken down.

How do you switch poles in electromagnetic field?

You get a battery, switch, nail and copper wire. You connect one end of the battery to the switch and the other end to the nail that is wrapped with some copper wire. The end of the switch that isn't connected you connect to the electromagnet.

Copper is a good conductor of electricity because its electrons are what?

The copper (the positive protons) hold the inner negative electrons securely, but the outer most negative electrons of the copper atom are easily disloged and become free electrons, apply a potential difference (volts) between terminals of say a car battery, and the terminals are joined by copper wire then electrons will flow from one terminal to the other - the electron flow is from negative to positive terminal.Hope this helps I have just answered the question simply!

What are the components in a circuit?

Copper from impure copper has to be transferred to the pure copper which one has to be connected to the positive terminal?

If it is electrolysis you are talking about, I'm fairly confident the impure copper has to be connected to the positive terminal.

What form of energy flows through a copper wire connecting the two ends of battery?

Electrical Energy. When a copper wire is connected to two ends of battery, the electrons on the -ve terminal (with excess of electrons) move to +ve terminal (electron deficit terminal) to maintain an equlilbrium, hence the energy created by these movement of 'electrons' is called 'electrical' energy

Can you use copper and brass together on battery terminal?

Yes

Can grease be used to prevent corrosion on a car battery terminal battery?

A very thin smear of Copper Grease over the Battery terminal / Cable end will help pevent corrosion.

What causes a deposit of turquoise powder on the negative terminal of a car battery?

corrosion of copper, from battery acid vapors, most likely.

How do dry cell batterys work?

when it works it has copper sulfate solution inside the wet cell battery which takes the electrodes from the negative terminal (-) to the positive terminal (+).

Why does in a potato when connected to a circuit appears blue near the positive terminal?

copper salts are forming on that electrode and diffusing into the potato flesh.

How is copper plated?

To copper-plate another metal, the procedure is pretty simple. You need a DC power source, a bath of copper sulphate, and a copper electrode. Connect the positive terminal of the battery to the copper electrode, and the negative to the item to be plated. When the copper electrode and the item are placed in the copper sulphate solution, the circuit is complete and copper electrons will stick to the item.

When one terminal of the cell is joined by copper wire to the one terminal of bulband another terminal of cell with aluminium wire to the other terminal of bulb. Will the bulb glow Give reason for yo?

Both copper and aluminium wire will conduct electricity, so the bulb will glow. Aluminium is less efficient at conducting than copper. Copper-clad aluminium wire is electrical wire coated with a thin layer of copper.

What is the magnetic field that might be obtained close to a thick copper wire which is connected across the terminals of a car battery?

This isn't going to work because the copper wire is gonna either melt or short the battery out by connecting the terminals together. This is basically how arc welding is done.
