No. A solution is a homogeneous solution. A solution for example would be sugar dissolved in water (or salt dissolved in water), but a heterogeneous mixture would be sandy water or chunky vegetable soup.

NO and YES...by definition, a homogeneous mixture is a mixture who's components are EVENLY distributed and a solution is a homogeneous mixture of more than 1 solute dissolved in a solvent.

A heterogeneous mixture and a solution are not the same things. A heterogeneous mixture is made of a different substances that remain physically separated. A solution is a homogenous mixture.

Is heterogeneous mixture a solution?

A solution is a solid (the solvent) dissolved in a liquid (the solute). A heterogeneous mixture is two substances in different states (i.e. a gas and a liquid) that are in the same space and are in contact with each other. When you have a solution that is a gas-gas or a liquid-liquid or possibly a solid-solid solution, the matter of greater amount is the solute. A solution is an example of a homogeneous mixture (can't see the particles with a naked eye). But with heterogeneous mixtures, you can see the particles.

Is olive oil a homogeneous mixture heterogeneous mixture?

Cooking oil is an example of a homogeneous mixture, because it has the same consistancy throughout. There is no need to shake it up before using. Shaking is necessary when the contents of a solution settle at the bottom of a solution, such as in Italian salad dressing.

Is a mixture heterogeneous?

Heterogeneous means of different types. So a heterogeneous mixture is a mixture of dissimilar items. Homogeneous means of the same type so a homogeneous mixture would be a mixture of similar items.A mixture where two or more substances are mixed together but are not chemically combined is called as an heterogeneous mixture. In chemistry, heterogeneous mixture is a mixture of two or more different substances in the form of solution or colloids. For example, salad is an heterogeneous mixtureA heterogenous mixture is not uniform in composition and properties throughout.

Would a solution be an example of a heterogenous mixture?

A homogeneous mixture (solution) has the same appearance throughout. The individual components are not distinguishable, like a salt or sugar solution. A heterogeneous mixture does not have the same appearance throughout. The individual components are distinguishable, such as beef stew, or granite.

Are solutions and mixtures the same thing?

When you do a math problem involving addition, such as 2+2=4, the 4, or the number that is after the equals sign is the solution, right? (Yes.) Adding in math is like mixing in chemistry. You add/mix two or more chemicals together to get a solution/mixture.

Is cornstarch homogeneous or heterogeneous?

By definition all solutions are homogeneous. An aqueous solution is a solution in which water is the solvent.

What is a homogenous mixture and how is it different from a heterogeneous mixture?

A homogeneous mixture is one in which the components are uniformly distributed, so that it is the same throughout. A solution is a homogeneous mixture. A heterogeneous mixture is one in which the components are easily distinguishable and are not uniformly distributed. Granite is an example of a heterogeneous mixture.

What is a heterogeneous and homogeneous solution?

A heterogeneous solution combines 2 or more solutions that are not chemically combined. A homogeneous solution is when the components are uniformly distributed.

Is caffeine a heterogeneous or a homogeneous mixture?

Caffeine is a chemical compound, not a mixture.

What type of mixture homogeneous or heterogeneous is a solution?

A solution is homogeneous, because it is the same in all parts, whereas something heterogeneous would have different consistency in some parts of it, like lumpiness for example, or a mixture thay hasn't been mixed thoroughly.
