All non-zero numbers are, in fact, signed numbers. We know that all the real numbers make up the real number line. That line is divided into the positive and the negative real numbers, and zero as the dividing point. Every number we can think of is either to the right or left of zero, making that number positive or negative, respectively. We can even assign a sign to imaginary numbers, so they, too, will have a sign associated with them.
