Different people have different learning styles. There is no method that is universally better.
Too short a session may not be much good because you will not have time to work through a whole "unit". Too long a session is not good because you may end up with "information overload". Your attention will start to waver after a while and then the effectiveness of the session will fall. How much is too short or too long is something that you will need to find out for yourself.
