Most news media sources do a little research before reporting on stories that contain statistics. It is possible that they can be given false information, but their research might correct the issues of difference. The information gotten today from television and radio is pretty accurate despite differences of opinion.

I don't have the capability to assess the accuracy of statistics presented in the news media. It's important to cross-verify information from reliable sources and fact-check before drawing conclusions.

News media is not without its bias, and bias often gets in the way of accurate reporting. For example, Fox News leans decidedly right, and the statistics that publication presents often relate to promoting their interests. Bias in statistics is evident throughout news media.

Why statistics is an art and not a science?

That "statistics is an art" is merely a common turn of a phrase. Statistics are in fact firmly based in mathematics which is widely regarded as one of (if not the) purest sciences. However, the presentation and general (-y public) use of statistics on the other hand, is sometimes regarded as a largely deceptive practice which relies on subtle wording, technical definitions, and misdirection to relay a perceived meaning to the statistical results which is not necessarily there. That one set of numbers can relay two different meanings based on how they are presented is not the "art" of how you use the tools of statistics, the numbers and methods are absolute. The public interpretation of those statistics, which is more the realm of public speaking (pandering or propaganda) is the so called "art" and relies on the general ignorance of statistics along with their interpretation and employ. Short answer: It's not a science if you give those numbers to a liberal arts major (or anyone with an agenda).

What is the importance of statistics in research?

Ø Statistics is the science of collection, analysis, interpretation or explanation, and presentation of data. It has wide usage in the field of research. In fact all the data collection and interpretation techniques used in Research are part of statistics. Ø It makes use of descriptive statistics for collection of data and inferential statistics for drawing inferences from this set of data. Ø The subject called research statistics & statistics is very important in research because that is the backbone of your research. Ø The Numbers gives an easy idea of how you conducted your research. Ø Statistics provides a platform for research as to; How to go about your research, either to consider a sample or the whole population, the Techniques to use in data collection and observation, how to go about the data description (using measure of central tendency). Ø To wrap it up, statistics as a science of data collection, analysis, interpretation, explanation and presentation will guide you in research for proper characterization, summarization, presentation and interpretation of your research result for proper action.

Statistics in singular sense?

Statistics is the art of lying with numbers.

The classification and collection of data that are in the form of numbers is called?

Statistics

Is statistics hard?

It depends on the type of math you prefer. Calculus and Statistics are completely different classes that learn different things. Calculus is more of the numbers and formulas but statistics is a class about binomial distributions and what percent of your sample is in the correct area. It may be difficult, but it may be easy depending on who you are. In my opinion, it is very difficult.

Types of statistics?

There are two types of statistics. One is called descriptive statistics and the other is inferential statistics. Descriptive statistics is when you use numbers. Inferential statistics is when you draw conclusions or make predictions.

Why it is said all statistics are data but all data are not statistics?

All statistics are data because all statistics are formed of numbers and numbers are a type of data (numrical). But not all data is statistics because not all data is numbers, it can also be words, pictures etc. It's like saying all apples are fruit but all fruit are not apples.
