Placing the telescopes in valleys is believed by some people to slightly reduce radio interference, but when radio telescopes are placed in valleys, it is usually because they are so large and the mountains work as supports, to reduce the cost.
Oil is used to reduce friction.
yep
A triangular prism reflects light at specific angles. Many are used in equipment such as binoculars and telescopes to reduce their physical size.

Adaptive optics which change the shape of large mirrors during observation have helped to reduce atmospheric distortion.
Reduce,Reuse, and Recycle CHA! I learned that from iCarly lol:D
To formulate into or reduce to a system: "The aim of science is surely to amass and systematize knowledge"

What did Bob Taylor, who was in charge of computer science at ARPA, need to do in order to reduce the cost of different computer science projects at universities across the country?
Optical telescopes are found through out the world. They have even been taken to space as in the Hubble Telescope. The Optical telescope is the main telescope used by amateur astronomers. They are used in Gardens through out the world. Professional optical telescopes are generally placed on the very top of mountings. This is to reduce the amount of distortion caused by the atmosphere. The Keck observatory for example is at an altitude of 4.2 km atop the summit of Mauna Kea on Hawaii.
There is surprisingly little science in medicine, its mostly empirical. But a bit of science would reduce the error rates, and would probably lower costs. But the lawyers are happy the way it is.
