yes you can. You can add and subtract ANY number, negative or positive, even if it is a decimal.

For example 1 + 1 = 2

-1+-1 = -2

-1+1 = 0

A minus plus a minus is a minus.

Why two negatives is a positive?

I feel that two negatives are positive because you add* your two negative integers* together, you would be doing this: -+- (negative + negative) so the response is, is that if two integers where both negative, you would add, just like if there were two positives, you would add, but not if you have different signs. (positive+negative) you would subtract. Just as the same with negative + positive. [REVIEW: if the sign is the same, add, if the sign is different, you subtract.] *=you may not always add *=integers- a fancy word for numbers.

How do you subtract the positive from the negative?

How does the sign of an integer affect whether you add or subtract numbers?

-3+(-5)= -8 -3+5= 2 3+5= 8 two negative numbers: first add the two numbers and then put a negative sign in front of the sum. -3+(-5)= 3+5= 8 -8 -3+(-5)= -8 one positive number one negative number: subtract the negative integer from the positive one. -3+5= 5-3= 2 -3+5= 2 two positives: add the numbers. 3+5= 8 Hope this is helpful :D

How do you add and subtract negative decimals?

The same way you'd add any other negative numbers. Adding a negative is the same as subtracting, and subtracting a negative is the same as adding. (-2) + (-2) = (-4) (-2) - (-2) = 0 you are wrong if you add or subtract two negitives its always a positive dont you know your math. And the second problem you have is wrong to because when you subtract two negitives you change the sign of the secong number to positive and you change the subtraction sign to a addition sign.
