Some 3D televisions have a 3D simulation feature. LG is one of the manufacturers who offer the feature on their televisions.
The feature is NOT a conversion to 3D but a simulation. They have limitations and are not as good as 3D content. Treat the simulation feature as a bit of bonus and don't make a buying decision on this feature.
Both Samsung and LG 3D TVS have 2D to 3D conversion features.
3D TV is capable of showing both 2D and 3D images so you can always switch between 2D and 3D. You just need to turn on the 3D mode when watching 3D movies or 3D filmed TV programs that streams from cable/satelite. Then switch to 2D mode when watching regular 2D programs, and it goes the same when you playing video games too. There is however a feature called 2D to 3D conversion, which I thought very very cool. This feature lets you change ANY 2D content into 3D, and with this feature ANY kind of movies, show programs, even a Youtube video on the web can be shown in 3D. Then you will be able to watch everything in 3D. However, this feature is not included in every 3D TV, so check the TV's specification before you buy if you want this feature. The real good news is that because of the high specifications of most 3D TVs, they also deliver exceptionally high quality 2D images as well.
Not really, everything is 3D except paper, it's flat and it's 2D.
2D to 3D conversion is a technique of simulating 3D content. It has limitations as the 3D information doesn't exist in the 2D content. Some 3D simulations work well and others don't. It's a bonus feature of 3D televisions that may give you good results but don't rely on this as a useful feature.
Most 3D televisions have a 3d emulation frauds. Both the LG and the Visio passive 3D TVs have a 3d emulation feature for 2D sources. It is not as realistic or effective as real 3D.
LG 3D TV has 2D to 3D conversion. The process generates a simulated 3D image from 2D content. It is important to remember that simulated 3D is not true 3D and will not be as realistic as genuine 3D content. More than one manufacturer offers simulated 3D. It is best to consider this a bonus feature rather than one on which to make a buying decision.
No, unless you don't watch Direct TV or have 2D to 3D Conversion TV. However, not all the 3D TVs are capable of converting 2D to 3D. Therefore, answer is Yes and No. You will be able to watch TV channels in 3D on 3D TVs like LG but not on such like a Vizio because they don't support 2D to 3D conversion. So check the spec whether there are this feature in the TV before you buy it if you want to watch TV channels like Oprah, American Idol, NFL in 3D. Plus, this conversion feature convert not only TV channels but anything on TV meaning you will be able to watch literaily any contents even downloaded movie from internet, on 3D. I read ESPN and Discovery Channel in 3D are available for 24/7.
There is no conversion from 3d to 2d.
LG and Samsung have this feature. Be aware that converting 2D to 3D is not a perfect process and the 3D images may not be accurate or realistic. 3D televisions are designed to work with 3D content so any simulation of 3D from 2D content must be regarded as a bonus feature.
Yes, but only a few brands have this feature. As far as I know, only LG and (maybe Toshiba?) offer the 2D to 3D conversion feature. They work on anything; Movies, television shows, music videos, you pick! It's quite easy and very satisfactory! With just a click on the screen, the 3D TV does everything on its own and converts the 2D image to 3D! This is so useful since it means you don't have to buy separate 3D materials! I'm using the LG LW5600 and have no complaints. You can tell the difference between 2D and 3D right away. I also highly recommend music videos in 3D if you're a fan of music.
No, they do not. However, 2D to 3D is a 3D simulation and the results are not as good as true 3D content. Don't make a buying decision just on the basis of a 3D simulation feature that rarely looks lifelike.
Most brands of 3D television offer some sort of 3D simulation feature but it is a poor substitute for true 3D content. Treat it as a bonus and avoid changing your purchasing decision just for this feature. Most 3D televisions will allow 3D content to be displayed in 2D.
