Also that outlet may be protecting other standard outlets being fed from the GFI. You can only after the house has passed inspection after the house was finished being built. It's a requirement that all new houses have to have a GFI wherever there's water, but it's perfectly legal once you buy the house to do this modification. However, it's highly not recommended unless there's more than one GFI outlet hooked up to the same circuit. If there's more than one, it's optional to take one off and replace it with a standard outlet because you really only need 1 GFI outlet to protect the rest of the outlets on the same circuit. If you take off the left one, only the last normal outlet will be GFI protected, the ons to the left wouldn't.
Can you put a receptacle on the end of an extension cord?
Yes, the receptacle will have to be terminated in a receptacle box of some kind. Construction usually use an FS type box with a 1/2" hub. A 1/2" strain relief connector is used to hold the extension cord into the FS box. Wire the white wire of the cord to the silver screw, black coloured wire to the brass screw and the green wire to the green ground screw on the receptacle. The cover plate should be weatherproof FS type if the cord is to be used outdoors. If for indoor use a normal steel cover plate designed for use on a FS box will work fine. If strictly for indoor use, a box called an 1110 utility box, will also work to hold the receptacle.

Electrically there is no reason you couldn't if the neutral exists in the switch box. But in a home, a switch is required just inside every door. So other arrangements would have to be made for that. If you need a receptacle at this location, consider installing a combination unit with a switch and single receptacle on the same yoke.

On these types of installations an electrician would use a three wire cable set from the switch box to the fixture's junction box. At the fixture's junction box both the fan neutral and the light neutral would be wire nutted together with the incoming neutral from the switch boxes. From the three wire, the white wire would go to the fan and light's neutral wires. The Black would come from the bottom of one of the switches and go to the fan's motor lead. The red wire would come from the bottom of the other switch and go to the light fixture's lead. It can be done with two runs of two wire to the fixture. You will need a two gang switch box for this project to hold the two separate switches. You could use a single gang light switch box if you can still find where duplex switches being sold. A duplex switch is one that has the configuration of a duplex receptacle with the switches being one on top of the other. The cover plate is the same one used for duplex receptacles. No, the receptacle's rating is 240 volt and that is the maximum voltage allow to be applied to that device. To prevent this condition from happening 277 volt receptacles and switches have a larger box that they fit into. The retaining screws are set apart further that a 240 volt device which makes it impossible to install a 240 volt device in a 277 volt junction box.

Feed new wire 2C-#14 from the old box to the new box. Terminate both ends and replace covers. The new outside receptacle will need a weatherproof receptacle cover plate.
