No, attempting to do so will destroy the adapter. It maywork for a short time, but it certainly won't work for long.

An adapter should be sized so that it does not normally exceed 80% of it's duty rating. The maximum rating should only be used for brief periods.

Can you use a 6 amp 250 volt appliance with a 1 amp 250 volt adaptor?

No, that adaptor can not supply a 6 amp load because it's limited to 1 amp, most probably by the size of the prongs and/or the internal wiring.

Can you use a 1200 amp adapter for 500 amp appliance?

Yes, the adaptor allows load currents of 1200 amps or less, and 500 amps is included in that. The voltage of a supply stays constant, the current that flows is determined by what power the appliance needs to run.

Can you use any 220 volt adaptor on a 110 volt appliance?

No. 220V adaptor can't control the output voltage, 110V appliance will be fry. Use instrument transformer or voltage regulator instead.

Can you use a fifty amp circuit breaker for a forty amp appliance?

Yes.

Can you use 15 amp appliance on 20 amp socket?

Yes, the amp rating is a measurement of the highest amp load it should carry. So a 15 amp appliance will work on a 20 amp socket but you wouldn't want to use a 20 amp appliance on a 15 amp socket.

Can you use32amp circuit for a 15amp appliance?

If it is a 32-amp circuit you can use any appliance that takes less than 32 amps. That includes a 15-amp appliance. All appliances fed from that circuit must use 32 amps or less in total.

Can you use a 20 amp receptacle for a 20 amp appliance?

Yes you can as long as it is feed off of a 20 amp circuit in at least #12 gauge wire.

Can you use a 65 watts appliance with a 90 watts adapter?

Yes, the adaptor can supply anything from zero up to 90 watts.

Can you use an 18 amp appliance on a 20 amp circuit?

Yes, if properly wired a 20 amp circuit is a great circuit for an 18 amp appliance. Properly wired means you've used 12 gauge wire or larger and the circuit is protected by a 20 amp breaker or fuse and all connections are secure.

Can you use a 13v 2.77 amp ac adapter in place of a 12v 3.0 amp ac adapter?

Possibly, but not if you want to invalidate the warranty to your appliance.

If an adaptor is marked with output 12v dc and 2000mA does this mean the appliance draws 2amps when in use?

Yes and No. You have three types of adaptors: constant current with variable voltage output. constant voltage with variable current output. constant voltage with constant current output. What you are talking about is the latter. This means that the adaptor was created for a specific appliance requiring 12V/2A, which it will indeed use. Heavier appliance will not draw enough current/voltage and will malfunction. Lighter appliance will draw too much current/voltage and will overload/shortcircuit.

What will happen if use a 12v 400ma instead of 12v 500ma?

i am not sure, BUT according to the answer in this post:Can_you_use_a_9V_600mA_adapter_on_a_9V_400ma_scanneryou need an adaptor of 9v and AT LEAST 500mA (assuming that the appliance draws 500mA)
