At the very beginning Albert says what he expects to feel when in love as well as that he is on a journey to find someone to feel that way about. Through out the entire series Albert befriends and gains feelings for the Count, all matching up well to what he'd stated in the beginning of the series; even causing him to forgive the Count after all that he puts him through. The entire reason that the Count ended up the way that he did in the end was because Albert loved him and the Count had developed feelings for the boy.
