I got this out of my text book Glencoe Science Texas Science

If you are riding in a car with the cruise control on, the speed doesn't change. In other words, the car moves at a constant speed. If you are running at a constant speed of 5 m/s, you run 5 m each second. Whether you give you speed for the first 5 m you run or the last 5 m, you cover each 5-m interval in 1 s. When you are traveling at a constant speed, the speed at any instant of time is the same.

Constant speed

What is the different between constant velocity and constant speed?

constant velocity is when you maintain speed and direction, this usually is in a straight line, and constant speed means that your speed is always constant at all times.

Can an object have constant velocity and but variable speed?

No, an object cannot have constant velocity and variable speed. Velocity is a vector quantity that includes both speed and direction. If the object's velocity is constant, then its speed must also be constant.

Can you use average speed to calculate the speed of an object that is moving at a constant speed?

Yes, average speed can be used to calculate the speed of an object moving at a constant speed. This is because the average speed over a whole journey for an object moving at a constant speed is the same as its actual speed.

Speed that does not change is referred to as speed?

constant.. done by makayla smith..

What is non constant speed?

non-constant speed is when the speed for an object does not stay the same

If the speed of an object does not changed then the object is traveling at a?

If speed does not change then the object is moving with constant speed. when object moves in a circle its speed does not remains constant. Speed of object remains constant only if it moves along linear path.

Compare the tension of a train with constant speed and acceleration?

Unless the train is in a curve, you cannot have constant speed and constant acceleration. You either have constant speed and zero acceleration, or you have changing speed and constant acceleration. Please restate the question.

If you have a constant velocity do you have to have a constant speed?

Yes, speed is the scalar of velocity.

What is the equation for calculating speed when you know distance and time?

distance = speed x time.This assumes a constant speed.distance = speed x time.This assumes a constant speed.distance = speed x time.This assumes a constant speed.distance = speed x time.This assumes a constant speed.

What do you mean when we talk about a constant speed?

No. Circular motion can have constant speed but varying velocity. Constant speed means constant speed in any direction, like a car on cruise control turning a corner. Constant velocity means constant speed in a straight line. If the direction changes, that's considered a change in velocity.

Why do you need a referance point to know if an object is moving?

A reference point is needed to determine if an object is moving because motion is relative. Without a fixed point of reference, there is no way to tell if an object is in motion or not. By comparing the position and movement of an object to a reference point, we can determine its speed and direction of motion.
