Use Pythagorean Theorem a2+b2=c2 or squareroot(a2+b2)=c

Rules for this is that "a" and "b" must be smaller then "c".

If you draw a right triangle and draw it as three squares making the right triangle then you will see that the ratio in the formula is proven.

so plug the numbers in the formula (usually smallest is "a") so a=14, b=42, c=56

a2+b2=c2 => 142+422=562 => 196+1764=3136 => 1960=3136

As you see 1960 does not equal 3136. Therefore 14,42, and 56 do not make a right angle triangle.
