Yes, I have a trick.

Beginning at '1', the sum of several consecutive powers of 2 is one less than the next power of 2.

For example:

1 + 2 + 4 = one less than 8

1 + 2 + 4 + 8 + 16 = one less than 32

so

1 + 2 + 4 + 8 + 16 + 32 + 64 + 128 + 256 + 512 + 1024 + 2048 + 4096 = one less than 8192 .

Now, is that tricky or what !
