Newton's first law of motion states that an object at rest remains at rest and an object in motion remains in motion in a straight line with constant velocity unless acted upon by an unbalanced force.

The property of an object by virtue of which it neither changes it's present state nor it tends to change is called inertia. It is the inherent property of every object.

Remember, more the mass of an object more is the inertia. For example, there is a football and a tennis ball.We know that the football has more mass than the tennis ball.If the two balls are hit with an equal force it will be seen that the tennis ball acquires a much higher velocity than the football.Similarly, more force is needed to stop a football than a tennis ball, if both are moving with same velocity.

The law of inertia is the basis of the new physics of the seventeenth century. This law is also true according to modern physics. Galileo discovered the law during the first decade of the seventeenth century, but in fact he did not understand the law in the general way we have formulated it here. The general formulation of the law of inertia was devised by Galileo's pupils and by Descartes - a French philosopher, mathematician and physicist. This law is also the first of Newton's three laws.

That's another name for Newton's First Law. It states that an object that is at rest has the tendency to remain at rest (it will remain at rest if no forces act on it), and if it is moving, when no forces act on it it will continue moving at a constant velocity.

That is basically Newton's First Law (which is a special case of Newton's Second Law): if no force acts on an object, its velocity will not change.

Inertia is the tendancy of an object to stay in rest or in motion. Newtons 1st law was the law of inertia.

What happened according to Newton's Law of Inertia and Law of Motion when you slowly pulled the cardboard that had a coin sitting on it with the cardboard covering a glass of water Explain?

If you slowly move the cardboard the coin on top will move with the cardboard. Law of Inertia. There is not enough force to drop the coin into the water.

Why do we call newton first law as a law of inertia?

This is because the concept of inertia is introduced in the first law of motion.
