8x-87+(16)(6) can be simplified:

8x - 87 + 96

8x + 9

Once this expression is simplified, factoring doesn't much help. However, in order to "factor," you need to find something that both terms (in this case, 8x and 9) have in common. Only one term has a variable, but if it strikes your fancy you can factor out a constant. For instance, we can factor out a nine and get

9(8x/9 + 1).
