call the numbers n, n +2, n + 4, n + 6. Then 3 x (n + 6) - n = n + 4 + 31

ie 3n + 18 - n = n + 35

ie n = 35 - 18 = 17 and the other numbers are 19, 21 & 23.

Check: (3 x 23) - 17 = 21 + 31?

69 - 17 = 21 + 31? Yes, both sides = 52. Job done.
