Disconnect and take the meter out. If it is a 120V meter, just connect it to a lamp cord and plug it in. If it still doesn't register, you have a dead meter. Sometimes they get stuck...you can tap on the face gently if nothing else works. Oh, and BE CAREFUL with that high voltage!!!

220 volts 60 hertz to 220 volts 50 hertz?

Original Answer:If the power was being generated by a generator all that has to be done is slow the RPM of the generator down until the frequency meter reads 50 Hertz. On a hydro site it would be the same scenario by slowing the turbine down.Improved Answer:changing frequency is one of the more difficult things to do. Decreasing the speed of a generator is not a practical answer if the power comes from grid. You can use a variable frequency drive, or a motor generator set (Where the motor is rated for 60HZ, and the Generator is rated at 50 Hertz). For practical purposes, just get rid of the 50 hertz device and buy a new one.

Why 115 volts and 400 hertz used in modern aircrafts?

Generator design.

What frequency does an airplane generator use?

An aircraft uses 400 Hertz generators.

What can happen if you connect a 60 hertz air conditioning unit to a 50 hertz generator?

Probable the air conditioner doesn't work well.

What does 50 hertz or 60 hertz mean in an electrical generator?

The unit hertz means "cycles per second" and is a measure of the frequency of variation of anything which changes during a set period of time, including electric current and voltage. Saying that a generator of electricity runs at 50 hertz means that its current and voltage changes regularly at a rate of 50 times per second. Saying that a generator of electricity runs at 60 hertz means that its current and voltage changes regularly at a rate of 60 times per second. The Hertz value can be changed on the generator by increasing or decreasing the speed (RPM) of the prime mover. The generator has a feed back unit that monitors the frequency and automatically applies more power to the prime mover if the load increases and the generator RPM starts to slow down. The reverse happens if the load drops off and the generator starts to speed up, the power to the prime mover will be reduced. On a diesel generator it is the fuel flow that is increased and decreased to keep the frequency at a constant value. On a water turbine it is the water flow that is increased and decreased to keep the frequency at a constant value.

What is a 400 hertz generator mean?

It's a generator that creates 400hz AC signals, instead of 50 or 60hz. 400hz is often used on ships, because the equipment (generators, transformers) can be made much smaller.

When was the electricity field discovered?

In 1831 Faraday created a generator. and the field took off when Hertz demonstrated that light and electricity was, as James Maxwell claimed, the SAME!

What ohm reading should your speedometer sensor read in your 87 fiero?

General consensus is that the actual reading is less important than it has continuity and is not shorted to the housing. If you have a meter that will measure Hertz at 40 to 45 mph it should produce 60 hertz just like a North American wall outlet in the house.

What is the meaning of rpm of the turbine?

RPM stands for Revolutions Per Minute so, in short, RPM is the number of revolutions that the generator shaft turns in one minute. It seems obvious that the question is really trying to understand RPM vs frequency in Hertz. To understand this, you need to know the number of poles in the rotating and/or stationary magnetic field. In a two pole generator, for instance, an RPM of 1800, or 30 RPS (Revolutions Per Second), yields 60 Hertz power. In a eight pole generator, for instance, an RPM of 450, or 7.5 RPS, yields 60 Hertz power. The equation is simple... FHertz = SRPM / 60 * PNumber of Poles

How do you convert seconds to hertz?

Hertz are a frquency, so if you have 1 hertz it is 1 hertz/second if you have 2 hertz =2 hertz second and so on, so a Intel processor at 2.4ghz would be 2.4 billion hertz a second.

What are The units of frequency are called?

Hertz. Hz

Are there fractional frequencies of a hundredth hertz or thousandth hertz or millionth hertz etc?

Unsure.
