Well....I have a 2000 XLE that has roughly 220,000 miles on it and the transmission is original. That's my experience. I've used the vehicle since I bought it used in 2003 with 40K miles on it to do everything from move our homes (twice) and haul power wheelchairs (abnormally heavy loads) and only in the last year have we had to make some pretty expensive repairs, but not the transmission (knock, knock).
