The best way is to get a timing light, but it sounds like you have a misfire. If to motor is unmolested, (has not been worked on, dist not removed) I would think this will solve any problem. If the dist has been removed, make sure the timing is not 180 degrees out! Otherwise check wires, plugs, cap and rotor, etc.
Unplug the vac advance on the dist. Also there may be a plug on the drivers side of the intake manifold containing 2 wires which when unpluged turns on the ck eng light.Sometimes the balancer outter ring slips and you have to replace the balancer to set the timing.
They are on the harmonic balancer but are they on the drivers side or on the passenger side?

Automatically detect and update drivers and software. Same goes for keeping your drivers up to date. Again, sometimes it will, but sometimes it won't.
The blanker relay switch can be found beneath the dashboard on the drivers side. The relay switch is round and can be easily unplugged and replaced.
You can not get an advance copy of the drivers test questions for the Illinois drivers test. However, the state does offer a guide book that you should study in order to learn what will be on the test.
On the drivers side front, down under look for harmonic balancer at about the two o"clock position.
On the front of the timing chain cover, drivers side towards the top of the harmonic balancer.
The timing marks should be on the driver's side of the car down by the harmonic balancer on a small plate. theres usually a "pointer" on the drivers side. its attached with two of the front cover bolts. When you look down at your Harmonic balancer there should be something about it that you see that looks kinda like saw teeth with numbers in the gaps. The zero or line whichever year you have should be on the Harmonic balancer.
