On a TI-84, press APPS. Scroll down and choose Inequalz. The calcuator will say "INEQUALITY GRAPHING" and "PRESS ANY KEY" (and some other stuff). Press any key. If the calculator says INEQUAL RUNNING choose continue. If the calulator says CONFLICTING APPS, then choose "Quit APPs listed below.

When you press Y= (you will already be in the Y= screen after choosing Inequalz), you will see a little X= in the top left-hand corner. Use the up arrow to highlight it and press ENTER to get to the X= equations.

You can only graph numbers in the X= equations; you cannot put variables in. If you do they will turn into numbers.

To turn of the X= (and the inequaity signs at the bottom of the screen), press APPS, choose Inequalz, and choose "Quit Inequal".

Why do you need a graphing calculator?

Graphing calculators are true to their name: they can graph out equaitions. Letting the calculator graph out equations is a lot easier than plotting and drawing your own graph, but you do not NEED a graphing calculator. Besides that, their functions are similar to other scientific caculators.

How can you get a sine cosine or tangent on a graphing calculator?

If you mean you want to make a graph of one of those functions, hit the (y=) (just under the screen of the calculator) button so you can create a graph, then hit the (sin) (cos) (tan) (right above the number pad) button you want to make a graph of, then the (X,T,O,n) (right next to the (ALPHA) button to the left) button and hit (graph) (also right under the screen of the calculator). All locations of buttons are based on TI-83 and TI-84 graphing calculator models.
