Most hats are made to have a pre-formed bill, so some hats may be harder to form a flat bill. Some hats that have a flat bill shaped bill can be kept flat by ironing them with a regular clothes iron. Other hats that have a curved bill can be formed by cutting the sides of the bill where it is sewn into the cloth part of the hat and then ironed. It just takes working with it to get it how you want and wearing it a lot. It really works!

I have tried this before, basically just bend the bill until it goes flat.
By hand...You should was it by hand; do not put it in a washing machine, as it will ruin the hat.
