One method that was commonly used in the past was that of rote learning. Essentially this is learning something by "heart". Unfortunately in this case this requires repetition, which can be time consuming and requires you to repeatedly recite the multiplication table over and over again (either out loud or in your head) until you can recite it from memory. However it does work (eventually).
