It depends on what kind of artist you mean. If you mean a musical artist who writes their own music and lyrics, then yes, you will need to know Music Theory and be able to divide a song into rhythms. If you mean an artist who works with sculptures, then measurements are also important to make sure things are proportionate and symmetrical. If you mean an artist tho works with a pen or paintbrush, then again measurements are important for proportion and symmetrics, and if he/she is a fractal artist, there is a great deal of math involved.

'Artist' is a very loose term, PLEASE be more specific.

Music is measured mathematically. For example if you have a musical piece written in 4/4 time it means there are 4 beats in every bar and the 1/4 note gets the beat. So 4 quarter notes in a bar would be counted as 1 2 3 4. Most music (but not all) is written with mathematical measurements but its much easier than it sounds. If you can add and multiply then you can use math in music.

Well, they need to know how much force is needed to push the door open and turn some knob. And plenty others and etc. Everything is math.
