First how much 1 percent will be. We can do this because we know that "cent" (as in perCENT) means 100. So we divide by 100

520/100 = 5.2

If 5.2 is one percent then if we multiply this by 5 we will have the value for 5 percent.

5.2*5= 26

Thus 5 percent of 520 is 26.
