It is much easier to follow what is below if you have a rough sketch.
Suppose the length of the chord is 2x units so that half the chord is x units.
Suppose that the distance from the centre of the circle to the arc = y units.
Suppose the angle subtended at the centre by the chord is 2k radians.
Then the semi-chord and the line from the centre form a right angled triangle with the radius to the end of the chord, and the angle subtended by the semi-chord at the centre is k radians.
Now, by Pythagoras the radius, r = sqrt(x2 + y2) units
and tan(k) = x/y (or sin(k) = x/r
Since both x and y are given, r and k can be calculated.
Then arc length = r*k which is a simple multiplication.
If you measure angles in degrees, remember that pi radians = 180 degrees.
length
There is no formula to calculate the length of a wire. The length of a wire is determined by the distance from the power source to where the load is situated.
it would be pi times the perpendicular length from the center to the shorter side times the perpendicular length from the center to the longer side.
V = (1/3) (area of the base) (height) Area of a pentagon = 1/2 x apothem length x 5 x length of a side of the pentagonthe apothem is the perpendicular distance from the center of the pentagon to the side of the pentagon
The equation used to calculate the distance something travels is given below . we know, speed = distance /time . distance = speed X time in meters /km /or any other unit of length.
The length of the cable is determined by the distance from the center of the distribution panel to the center of the load.
length
The Circumference of a circle is the distance around the outside of the circle. The Radius is the length of a line from the Center out to the Edge and ... The Diameter is the length of a line that passes through the Center from one Edge of the circle to the Edge on the opposite side.
There is no formula to calculate the length of a wire. The length of a wire is determined by the distance from the power source to where the load is situated.
The diameter of a circle is 2 times the radius. The radius of a circle is the distance from any point on the circle to the center of the circle, and the diameter is the distance from one side of the circle to the opposite side, passing through the center.
it would be pi times the perpendicular length from the center to the shorter side times the perpendicular length from the center to the longer side.
3/2*(shortest distance across the flats, passing through the center)*(length of one flat)
The perimeter of a rectangle is the distance around the rectangle. The area of a rectangle is the space inside the rectangle. To calculate either one you need the length and the width of the rectangle. To calculate the area multiply the length times the width. To calculate the perimeter add the length+width+length+width (that is the distance all the way around)
it is the distance from the point at which it pivots/swings to its center of mass
Focal length
The focal length of a lens is the distance from the principal foci to the center of the lens.
Strap length. Distance from backpack center-of-mass to center-of-tread.
