If the speedometer or rev counter in a Ford Mondeo is not working, it could be due to a faulty vehicle speed sensor (VSS), a malfunctioning instrument cluster, or issues with the wiring or connections. In some cases, blown fuses or problems with the engine control unit (ECU) can also affect these gauges. Checking these components can help diagnose and resolve the issue. If the problem persists, consulting a professional mechanic is advisable.

In a 1999 Ford Mondeo, the speedo sensor, also known as the vehicle speed sensor (VSS), is typically located on the transmission. It can be found on the top or side of the transmission casing, near the output shaft. To access it, you may need to lift the vehicle and remove any obstructions in the way for better visibility. Always consult the vehicle’s service manual for the exact location and specific instructions.
