Most fractions CANNOT be converted to a whole number, simply because they aren't whole numbers. For example, 1 1/2 is between the whole numbers 1 and 2. It is NOT equal to either 1 or 2 - or to any other whole number for that matter. Of course, you can round it to the nearest whole number, but that's not the same as "converting" it.

Some numbers may be written as a fraction, but may in fact be whole numbers. For example, 6/2. In this case, just divide the numerator by the denominator - in this case, divide 6 by 2 - to get the equivalent whole number. But if the division has a remainder (when calculating on paper) or you get a number with decimals (if calculating on a calculator), then the number is NOT a whole number, and therefore you can NOT convert it to a whole number.

What is the process of changing a fraction to a decimal or to a percentage?

The answer depends on the form of the fraction. If it is a decimal fraction, you need to nothing to convert it to a decimal! (?). If it is in the form of a rational fraction, you need to use long division to divide the numerator by the denominator. The division will either come to an end or will go into a repeating loop of digits. The quotient from the division is the decimal equivalent. To convert to a percentage, simply move the decimal point two places to the right - inserting os if required.

What is the process or changing a fraction to a decimal or to a percent?

To change a fraction to a decimal, divide its numerator by its denominator using long division. To change that into a percent, move the decimal place two places to the left. For example,if you have 3/8, long division gives 0.375 and the percentage is 37.5%
