There are valves for both the hot water lines and the AC lines to disconnect it from the main system.
Go under the vehicle, on the drivers side, and trace the lines from the heater-ac unit, to the shut off valves.
Close all valves completely ( turn them the opposite way ), then the rear system is inoperative.
Now you can remove the unit or leave it inoperative.
If you want the aux fan to be inoperative, you must disconnect that wire, which should be at the Aux unit.
Tape the end of the connector to prevent it from shorting out. Joedi
Best to get the shop manual but basically: Reomove Heater hoses from engine block and drain. Remove glove box. Disconnect cables that connect to heater core. Disconnect heater core from firewall. Disconnect hoses from heater core. Pull heater core from under dash.
Disconnect heater core inlet and outlet hoses - couple them together
Try flushing the coolant system out
Try reverse flushing Disconnect heater hoses and try running a garden hose through in both directions.
It is used in extremely cold climates to aid in starting. The block heater keeps the fluids warm for a much faster start.
Sounds like your heater core is bad and your engine is low on coolant
There is no Logical reason to do this. There is an off switch too btw
Hi Do you mean heater coil, or heater CORE? Im am going to try one tomorrow or the next day. By the manual it does not seem too bad, but you may need a special tool to disconnect the heater hose from the core.

Drain all coolant from your system, disconnect heater core hoses from heater core in engine compartment. Remove the glove box, open plastic housing, and theres your heater core. No need to remove dash if only replacing the core.
Remove the water supply lines from your 1990 Ford E3 50 heater core. Remove the heater core retaining bolts. Reverse the process to install your new heater core.
Yes there is a special tool to reach in and discconect the hoses, parts store should have one,got mine from NAPA (ultra pro)
